Ukrainian forces conducted a comprehensive drone operation against the Russian mainland overnight from Saturday to Sunday. This offensive targeted key oil refineries and technological facilities in the region, with the Russian Ministry of Defense reporting that 556 drones were intercepted across 14 regions.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed that the Moscow oil refinery in Kapotnya was a primary target of the attacks. The refinery was directly hit, resulting in an explosion that injured 12 workers.

The operation triggered nationwide airstrikes, with synchronized drone swarms flying over the suburbs of Khimki, Lobnya, and Naro-Fominsk before reaching their targets within the capital. Despite claims from the Ministry of Defense that numerous drones were neutralized, geolocated data and eyewitness reports confirmed that many attacks successfully penetrated Moscow’s defense systems.

The central objective of this wave of drones appears to have been the targeted disruption of Moscow’s energy supply. Reports of the attacks and their impacts indicate that Ukrainian forces remain capable of conducting significant operations deep within Russian territory.
