The US Central Command (Centcom) said it struck targets in Iran over the weekend. The attack hit “radar and command and control sites for drones in Goruk, Iran, and on Qeshm Island,” Centcom stated. The US described the strikes as self-defense after Iran shot down a US MQ-1 drone over international waters.

The Kuwaiti army said its air defense was intercepting missile and drone attacks. The exact origin of the projectiles remained unclear. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said, according to Iranian media, that it had attacked a US air base that had previously launched an attack on Sirik in the Strait of Hormuz.

This is already the third violation of the ceasefire between Iran and the US since their agreement in early April. In the two previous incidents, Tehran and Washington downplayed the significance of the exchanges, allowing the ceasefire to hold. The latest attack comes amid intense diplomatic efforts by the Trump administration to achieve a lasting ceasefire and restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
