About three months before the state election in Saxony-Anhalt, the CDU led by Minister-President Sven Schulze has adopted its program. It is titled “Making Saxony-Anhalt Stronger — Only with Us.” Delegates voted unanimously at the party congress in Dessau-Roßlau, as MDR reports.
Schulze named migration and the economy as central issues. He spoke out for stopping illegal migration into the social systems but emphasized a willingness to talk about labor migration. He also announced plans to increase the number of police officers in the state to 8,000. Those receiving state benefits must also provide a service in return, Schulze said.
The CDU is also focusing on internal security, strict migration rules, and reforms in the economy and education. Schulze referred to planned investments, a pharmaceutical summit, and crisis talks with automotive suppliers. Companies are suffering from bureaucracy and concerns about the future, which could lead to plant closures.
