Voucher provider Wowcher has apologized for an email whose subject line appeared to reference a crocodile attack on a three-year-old boy. According to the company’s statement, the message sent on Saturday read: “Snap up these deals quicker than a croc can catch a kid!” The company called the wording “unacceptable” and announced an urgent review of its marketing processes.

The toddler entered an enclosure housing Nile and saltwater crocodiles at Old Hurst Zoo in Huntingdonshire on Thursday afternoon. He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries and remains in critical but stable condition. A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested and released on bail; police are continuing their investigation.

A Wowcher spokesperson said: “It should never have been written, it was never approved for use. The responsibility lies with us, and we are urgently reviewing how our processes failed.” The company apologized “unreservedly” and said it would review all planned marketing content while tightening its creative, approval, and release procedures.
