Russian forces attacked energy and civilian infrastructure in the Vilkove community of Odesa region in the early hours of Friday, according to the Izmail District Military Administration. The attack sparked a fire and injured one person. Energy infrastructure was damaged, leaving the town of Vilkove and several surrounding settlements without electricity.
The military administration said: “The enemy attacked energy and civilian infrastructure in the urban-type settlement of Vilkove. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out. Units of the State Emergency Service immediately began eliminating the consequences.” Emergency crews were on site to extinguish the fire and repair the damage.
The Odesa region, particularly its Danube ports and energy infrastructure, has been a repeated target of Russian drone and missile strikes since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The latest attack occurred on the same night that Russian forces also struck Zaporizhzhia, damaging a residential building and injuring one person, local authorities said.
