Ukraine has expanded its drone strikes on Russia, including on Moscow and St. Petersburg. The German Foreign Office is therefore tightening its travel warning — and warns of the risk of arbitrary arrests by Russian authorities.
The warning now applies to the entire country, whereas previously only areas near the border with Ukraine were affected. The Foreign Office points out that a “significant threat” from drone attacks and debris is to be expected throughout Russia.
It also notes possible fuel supply shortages caused by attacks on Russian refineries. Attacks on public transport networks, particularly rail traffic, cannot be ruled out either.
