A Russian strike on Kyiv's Obolon district on 10 October injured seven people, three of them seriously. Several fires broke out in the city.

A Russian strike on Kyiv’s Obolon district on Saturday, 10 October, injured seven people, three of them seriously. That was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, according to the news portal Ukrainska Pravda. Five of the injured are being treated as inpatients in city hospitals.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS), three seats of fire broke out in the Obolonskyi district in wooden structures and on a green area. The rescue services extinguished the fires over a total area of 200 square metres. A single-storey building was also damaged in a courtyard between multi-storey residential buildings.

Even before the strike on Obolon, there had been Russian attacks on the capital. On Wednesday, 7 October, the military administration of the city of Kyiv reported, according to Ukrinform, two dead and 13 injured in the Obolon and Solomianskyi districts. In the Obolonskyi district, a woman was said to have been killed by falling debris from a drone. Later, the emergency services reported that another injured person had died. At that point the number of injured stood at three. According to Klitschko, six injured people were taken to hospitals, among them a young woman who was found near a burning car and was in a critical condition.

In the Solomianskyi district, the number of victims after the daytime attack with Russian drones rose, according to Ukrinform, to eight. In the Dniprovskyi district, debris fell near an educational institution. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, the roof of an administrative building was damaged by falling drone debris.

The figures on the injured from 10 October come from a post by Klitschko at 16:30 local time. At that time, five injured people were receiving inpatient treatment, three of them in a serious condition. Whether the number of injured rose further after that is not clear from the available sources.
