A 16-year-old private schoolboy from Brisbane allegedly planned terrorist attacks in 2024 targeting Australia’s Liberal Party and the Labour Day march in Brisbane. According to the Guardian, the teenager was inspired by the so-called Unabomber, a notorious US serial bomber.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested in 2024 by counter-terrorism police. He is accused of preparing a terrorist attack using commercially available chemicals to target buildings or individuals associated with the Liberal Party. He also allegedly planned a bomb attack on the 2024 Labour Day march, including a drawing of an explosion along Boundary Road on the march route.

Before the Queensland Supreme Court, the teenager pleaded not guilty on Monday. A jury of 14 members was empaneled. Justice Sean Cooper heard that the teenager had referred to his alleged terror plans as his “little future project.”
