California’s gubernatorial election remains too close to call. As Guardian reports, the outcome is still unclear as vote counting continues and could take days or weeks. Republican Steve Hilton and Democrat Xavier Becerra are currently leading, with Tom Steyer in third place.
Separately, a UK entry ban has stirred controversy. Left-wing US commentator Cenk Uygur, founder of the progressive Young Turks, was barred from entering Britain. The Home Office revoked his Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), stating his presence “could be detrimental to the public good.” Uygur called the decision “creepy and hilarious” as well as “Kafkaesque.” He and Hasan Piker, a popular Twitch streamer, were scheduled to appear at London and will now participate virtually in an event at the Oxford Union Society.
Meanwhile, the US House of Representatives voted to force Donald Trump to seek congressional approval before withdrawing or relocating US forces from Iran. Trump himself signed an executive order on customs issues and commented on the renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent refused to say whether Trump and his family would still enjoy immunity from IRS audits.
