The Cultural Department Store Dussmann will open a branch on the fourth floor of KaDeWe, covering 1,500 square meters. Catherine von Fürstenberg-Dussmann, chairwoman of the Dussmann Group's foundation council, stated that KaDeWe had approached the company about opening a satellite store. The opening is planned for this year, and von Fürstenberg-Dussmann hopes customers will be able to buy Christmas gifts there.

The product range of the new branch will be tailored to the needs of the KaDeWe clientele, which mainly consists of tourists and diplomats. In addition to a selection of books and vinyl records, there will be a café with 150 seats and an event stage for readings and other events. The existing stage at the Cultural Department Store on Friedrichstraße is often fully booked and cannot accommodate all requests from artists and writers.

While the expansion into Berlin is a significant step, the company has no plans for additional branches in other cities or countries. Fürstenberg-Dussmann dismissed suggestions to transfer the successful concept of the media department store to other European capitals or the USA. Thus, the Cultural Department Store remains a unique project.

In 2022, the Dussmann Group achieved a revenue of 3.4 billion euros, reflecting a 3.8 percent increase compared to the previous year. The profit margin before taxes, interest, and depreciation stood at five percent. The Cultural Department Store is the smallest unit within the Berlin service group, which operates in 23 countries and offers services such as building cleaning, catering, and security services.
