Deutsche Bahn has launched a special program that has been running since January 2023, aimed at increasing safety and cleanliness at train stations. As part of this program, 44 mobile handyman teams are being deployed to fix damage at stations more quickly.

Katja Hüske, board member at DB InfraGo, said the new teams can efficiently handle both minor and major repairs, such as broken glass panes or graffiti. This initiative is part of a broader strategy that also includes increasing security personnel at selected stations and a comprehensive spring cleaning.

Deutsche Bahn plans to hire around 200 new employees for these handyman teams. In some regions, however, the company is still looking for qualified craftsmen to fully staff the teams.

EuroPulse reported on June 14, 2026, on the completion of the renovation of the Berlin-Hamburg line, which is also part of Deutsche Bahn’s infrastructure improvements, [https://europulse.today/deutsche-bahn-sanierung-transparenz-berlin-hamburg/].
