Russia’s aviation authority Rosaviatsiya confirmed the restrictions. Due to the threat from unmanned aerial vehicles, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo airports were temporarily closed to air traffic. Some flights were diverted to alternate airports, and passengers were partially evacuated directly from the aircraft. Later, the airports partially resumed operations.

According to Russian media, a total of 527 flights were delayed or canceled on the morning of June 18. Sheremetyevo Airport was particularly affected: 50 departures were canceled and 71 more were delayed. Among arrivals, 60 flights were canceled and 76 arrived late. Vnukovo Airport also saw massive disruptions: 24 departures were canceled, 56 delayed; for landings, 17 flights were canceled and 77 delayed.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Russian air defense intercepted more than 30 drones heading toward the capital. According to Ukrainian sources, this was the second attack on the Moscow oil refinery within a few days. Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) had previously reported that drones damaged a central primary oil processing unit, described as the “heart” of the plant.
