A family party, a city walk or a haunted house: what suits children on Halloween weekend in and around Munich, with prices, age limits and booking.

31 October 2026 falls on a Saturday, and Munich and its surroundings offer several places where children can turn up in costume. We checked three different options: a family party, a city walk and a haunted house for older kids. All details come from the organisers; please check their websites before you go, as programmes can change.

Family Halloween at Nachtwerk – for younger children

On Saturday 31 October, 1–6 pm, Nachtwerk (Landsberger Straße 185, 80687 Munich) offers a kids’ disco, games, a treasure hunt, mask making and a fire show. The horror maze is for ages 6 and up; the organiser says the rest is only partly suitable for under-6s. Advance tickets cost €17 for children (up to 17) and €12 for adults (18 and over); at the box office €20 and €15. Children under 3 go free. Under-16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Spooky stories through the old town

Die Stadtdetektive run a roughly two-hour tour of the Altstadt on Friday 30 October at 2 pm (“Grauslig-greißliche G’schichten”). Ages 9 and up, with an adult. Advance registration is required; the meeting point is not on the page, so ask when you sign up. The site lists €12 per person for open tours; confirm when booking whether that applies here.

Haunted house in Unterschleißheim – for the brave

The volunteer-run Halloween Gruselhaus in the Bürgerhaus Unterschleißheim (Festsaal) opens on Friday 30 October, 5–9 pm, and Saturday 31 October, 4–10 pm. Admission is free, donations welcome (at least €5 suggested for adults). Under-8s are not admitted, 8- to 11-year-olds only with a parent, and the organisers do not recommend it for nervous visitors or under-12s. Free fast-lane passes can be reserved from 12 October at halloween-gruselhaus.de.

Our advice: with children under 6, the Nachtwerk party is the only one of the three that needs no extra caution. Sunday 1 November is All Saints’ Day, a quiet public holiday in Bavaria with restrictions on public dance events, so plan bigger celebrations for Saturday.
