The Israeli military is continuing its airstrikes on targets in southern Lebanon. At least 16 people were killed in the attacks, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA). Hezbollah reported heavy fighting in the region. The strikes are a response to the deaths of four Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon.
The United States had previously reached an agreement with Iran calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities “on all fronts, including Lebanon.” President Trump said he expects a full ceasefire and urged all parties not to jeopardize the negotiations.
Benjamin Netanyahu ruled out an immediate withdrawal from southern Lebanon. Israeli forces would remain there “as long as necessary,” he said. Netanyahu vowed retaliation for the deaths of the four soldiers and confirmed that one of the fallen was Lieutenant Colonel Dor Gadliah Ben Simhon. The names of the other three killed have not yet been released.
