Chalmers stated, "I think the housing market and the tax system are not working for many Australians, and tonight we want to address that." Additionally, Chalmers acknowledged that many people are excluded from the housing market and that the situation is not improving. This could compel the government to reconsider reforms in negative gearing and taxation to meet citizens' needs.
