He added that media speculation is unfair to both McConnell and the citizens of Kentucky, and wished him a safe and speedy recovery.
Since the 84-year-old was admitted, his office has not disclosed what he is being treated for. Amid the lack of transparency, some Republican lawmakers have tried to allay concerns about McConnell’s health, reporting extensive conversations with the former party leader in recent days.
