Kevin Rauhut, who has played for Viktoria Köln for over four and a half years, will conclude his playing career this summer but will not part ways with the club. Instead, the 36-year-old will take on the role of goalkeeping coach, a significant decision for Viktoria as they aim to leverage Rauhut’s expertise in the next season.

Head coach Jens Härtel, who knows Rauhut well as a former co-trainer, praised the continuity this brings to the coaching staff. “He has been with Viktoria for a long time and gained valuable experience,” Härtel said in an interview. Rauhut, who has experienced many highs and lows in his playing career, will now pass on his knowledge to the next generation of goalkeepers.

This decision comes at a critical time for Viktoria, which struggled to achieve desired results in the third division last season and is looking for ways to improve. Rauhut’s appointment could be pivotal for the team’s success in the upcoming season.

In his new role, Rauhut will not only share his playing insights but also focus on developing young talent. This is particularly important as Viktoria Köln has recently signed promising youth player David Wyciok, who could greatly benefit from Rauhut’s guidance.

The club is entering a crucial transition period, aiming to bridge the gap between active play and coaching responsibilities to enhance both player development and team performance. The coming weeks will reveal how this change affects team dynamics and whether Viktoria can solidify its position in the league.

Next up, Viktoria will face FC Magdeburg, with high expectations. Härtel emphasized that the team is well-prepared and aims to employ a versatile playing style.

He has been with Viktoria for a long time, was co-trainer of Janßen.
