The Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin has announced its program for the upcoming season, featuring 32 premieres.

The Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin has presented its program for the upcoming season. Under the motto “What’s at Stake,” 32 premieres are planned, the theater announced. In addition, there will be 27 concert performances by the Mecklenburg State Orchestra and 17 revivals.

Joanna Lewicka will become the new director of drama. She is expected to enrich the ensemble with national and international artists. At the Young State Theatre in Parchim, Oliver Meyer will take over artistic direction of the children’s and youth theater division starting January 2027.

A highlight of the season is the 100th birthday of the Fritz Reuter Stage, which will be celebrated with a major anniversary program. The patron is Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD). The season begins on September 10 with a Harald Schmidt evening in the theater tent; on September 11, the music theater opens with “Fidelio.” In March 2027, after extensive construction work, the doors of the Great House are to reopen with a theater ball.
