Theatre, children’s cinema, Halloween and a zoo trip: the best family dates in Munich between 24 October and 8 November, with addresses and prices.

Bavaria’s autumn holidays start on 2 November, and Munich has more for children than meets the eye. We went through the city’s family calendar for 24 October to 8 November and picked out what is worth planning around.

Theatre and musicals. At the Münchner Theater für Kinder (Dachauer Straße 46), “Die kleine Zauberflöte”, a child-friendly take on Mozart’s opera for ages 6 and up, runs on Saturday 24 October at 3 pm (1 hour 45 minutes including an interval). Also on: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (25 October, 3 pm; 5 November, 10 am), “Peter Pan” (31 October, 3 pm), “The Little Witch” (4 November, 3 pm) and “Die Sterntaler” (6 November, 3 pm). At the Circus Krone building (Marsstraße 43), Theater Liberi stages “The Jungle Book – the Musical” on 24 October at 3 pm and 25 October at 11 am and 3 pm. Recommended from age 4, two hours with an interval; children aged 0 to 14 get a discount and lap children are not admitted. Take the S-Bahn or tram 16/17 to Hackerbrücke.

Cinema for kids. Kinderkino München shows its Herbstfilmtage at Gasteig HP8 (Hans-Preißinger-Straße 8, U3 to Brudermühlstraße), mostly at 3 pm: “Mission Ulja Funk” (30 October), “Tafiti – Ab durch die Wüste” (31 October), “Das grüne Wunder – Unser Wald” (1 November), “The Little Prince” (2 November), interactive short films (3 November), “Where the Wild Things Are” (4 November), “Lotta zieht um” (5 November) and “Fritzi – Eine Wendewundergeschichte” (6 November). Screenings are in German. On 25 October the same venue hosts the children’s opera “Gretel und Hänsel” at 11 am, 12.30 pm and 2 pm.

Halloween without the nightmares. The Magic Bavaria experience museum in the MONA centre (Pelkovenstraße 145, U1/U3 to Olympia-Einkaufszentrum) runs a haunted graveyard from 24 October to 8 November, “spooky but not too spooky”, from age 6. On 31 October and 1 November children get free glitter tattoos and can go trick-or-treating; costumes welcome. It is all included in normal admission: children aged 6 to 17 pay €15 Monday to Thursday and €17 Friday to Sunday. A free option: the Kulturcafé Gans Woanders in Untergiesing hosts a Halloween story reading for ages 5 to 11 on 31 October at 1 pm, free according to Kindaling.

Is the Ferienpass worth it? The Munich Ferienpass 2026/27 has been on sale digitally only since 5 October: €14 for ages 6 to 14, €10 for 15 to 17. It is valid until the end of the 2027 summer holidays and includes five free entries to municipal indoor pools and one to Hellabrunn Zoo, which from 25 October is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.

Our advice: weekend and holiday-week matinees, especially the big musicals, tend to sell out, so book this week via München Ticket. Prices only appear during booking; availability is visible in the muenchen.de family calendar.
