About 100 museums open until 1 a.m. on 17 October and the Kirchweihdult starts in the Au — prices, hours and how to get there.

On Saturday 17 October Munich’s museums stay open until 1 a.m., and the autumn Kirchweihdult opens in the Au district. Here is where to go with children this weekend, with prices, hours and addresses.

Long Night of Munich Museums (Saturday 17 Oct). About 100 venues, 6 p.m.–1 a.m., children’s programme 2–6 p.m. One ticket (€20 plus advance fees) covers one adult and up to four children aged 4–14; the children’s programme alone is €5. Tickets: muenchenticket.de or from 1 p.m. at Odeonsplatz.

Kirchweihdult at the Auer Dult (17–25 Oct). The market on Mariahilfplatz is open daily 10 a.m.–7 p.m., rides from 10:30 a.m. Entry is free; rides and game stalls cost extra, and the city gives no prices. There is a children’s carousel, a Kasperl puppet theatre, nappy-changing and nursing spots and pushchair parking. Tuesday 20 October is family day with reduced prices on rides. Getting there: tram 18 to Mariahilfplatz, bus 52 or 62 to Schweigerstraße, U1/U2 to Kolumbusplatz. There is practically no parking, and not every stall takes cards.

Free: Mega Gaming Day. Munich City Library hosts consoles, retro games, card duels and board games on Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at its Motorama branch (Rosenheimer Straße 30–32). Free, no registration; some areas are 12+.

Children’s theatre. Münchner Theater für Kinder (Dachauer Straße 46) plays “Peter Pan” (10 a.m.) and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (3 p.m.) on Saturday, and “Pettersson and Findus’s Birthday” (10 a.m.) and “The Little Witch” (3 p.m.) on Sunday, about two hours each. The city lists no prices or age guidance; book via muenchenticket.de or on +49 89 595454.

Our view: with more than one child the museum night is the cheapest, the Dult the most spontaneous, and the gaming day costs nothing. As of 15 October.
