A Russian ballistic missile strike on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Sunday evening killed a 21-year-old woman. On the morning of 19 October, the Lviv city head Andrii Sadovyi and the governor of Lviv region, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported the approach of a jet drone towards the western Ukrainian city, as BBC News Ukraine reports. According to this, the drone entered the city and then circled over its surroundings; the use of air defence was also reported.
The attack on Kyiv late in the evening of 18 October was carried out with ballistic missiles, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Klitschko initially reported the killed 21-year-old, later three injured. According to the state emergency service DSNS on 19 October, consequences were recorded in at least three city districts: in Desnianskyi district a non-residential building burned, cars and a metro station were damaged, and a killed person was found at the fire site. In Solomianskyi district a fire broke out in a building of a medical facility, and the facade and glazing of a high-rise building were damaged. In Dniprovskyi district an educational institution was damaged.
The metro operating company said that the massive shelling had damaged an above-ground station as well as tracks and the cable network. In the morning, trains run between the stations “Akademmistechko” and “Darnytsia” according to schedule; the above-ground stations “Chernihivska” and “Lisova” remain temporarily closed for boarding and alighting.
Drones had already attacked Lviv the previous day. According to BBC News Ukraine, two drones were shot down on the city outskirts, residential buildings were damaged and a logistics warehouse burned.
