Russia has again attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv with missiles, also hitting other parts of the country. At least 16 people were killed in the mutual attacks.

Russia launched another missile attack on several regions of Ukraine overnight, including the capital Kyiv. A book market in the capital was also hit. “Wherever the Russians can reach with their missiles, they attack civilian infrastructure,” Ukrainian President Zelensky said.

Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said on the messaging service Telegram overnight that fires had broken out in two districts of the city. He urged residents of the metropolis to stay in shelters.

The Russian army attacked a steel plant of the Arcelor Mittal group in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, with drones and missiles, according to Ukrainian reports. Two people were killed and 14 others injured. The plant had to partially halt production. It is one of the largest steel plants in Ukraine and supplies the arms industry.

According to Ukrainian authorities, Russian missiles also killed two people in the Zaporizhzhia region and one person in the border region of Sumy.

The Ukrainian air force reported on Telegram attacks with missiles, glide bombs, and drones, including on the industrial city of Kremenchuk.

Russia also reported attacks overnight. The governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov, spoke of one of the largest attacks on the region in recent times. In the southern Russian region of Rostov, Ukrainian drones killed five people in a residential area, according to Governor Yuri Slusar. Three more people died in the Belgorod, Kursk, and Moscow regions, according to official reports. In addition, three people were killed in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine.

Furthermore, a warehouse of Russia’s largest online retailer Wildberries was hit in Podolsk. Employees were brought to safety. The Ukrainian news site Kyiv Independent also reported that the attacks had hit industrial facilities and a warehouse of the Russian online retailer Wildberries, among other targets. Ukraine accuses Wildberries of being involved in the transport and storage of weapons.

According to the Defense Ministry in Moscow, the armed forces shot down 822 Ukrainian drones nationwide. About 600 of them were heading toward the Moscow region, Moscow’s mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on Telegram. Of these, 201 drones were shot down.

Ukraine has been defending itself against Russia’s war of aggression for more than four years. The Ukrainian military primarily uses drones for counterattacks on Russian territory.
