On May 13, starting at 3:00 PM, the Slovak customs authority halted operations at the border crossing to Ukraine for security reasons. This decision followed a massive Russian drone attack, during which the so-called “Shahed” drones reached Uzhhorod, located close to the border.
The closure lasted until approximately 4:47 PM, when border controls were resumed. The police confirmed that the Ukrainian side had also closed its border crossings, but the situation was calm at that time.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban condemned the attacks and announced plans to summon the Russian ambassador, marking the first such incident since the beginning of the Russian invasion. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia fired at least 800 drones at Ukraine on May 13, and the attacks are ongoing.
