The Ukrainian Air Force announced the warning at 6:31 p.m. local time. The reason was the takeoff of a Russian MiG-31K, which can carry aeroballistic Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles. Authorities urged the population to take shelter.
The alert was lifted at 6:55 p.m. The Air Force provided updates via Telegram. It remained unclear whether any missiles were actually fired.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, such alerts have become routine. Russia repeatedly uses the MiG-31K to strike Ukrainian cities.
