The nighttime attack wave hit the city of Kyiv among others, where severe destruction was reported. In Kyiv, nine people were killed on Saturday and more than 30 others injured, the state emergency service said. Rescue workers pulled 105 people from damaged and partially destroyed residential buildings, 17 of whom were taken to hospitals, Kyiv’s mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had attacked 16 of Ukraine’s 21 unoccupied regions in the past week. Moscow had fired 1,900 drones, nearly 1,600 bombs, and 144 missiles at his country. More than 1,500 objects, including hundreds of residential buildings, were damaged. He again lamented the shortage of Patriot missiles for air defense and called on allies to deliver them. “The world has Patriot missiles,” he wrote. The key now was for partners to make the political decision to provide the necessary packages. “Interceptor missiles must protect people, not gather dust in warehouses.”
The Ukrainian military also struck targets in Russia, including an oil refinery and the Engels military airbase in Saratov, as well as warehouses of the online retailer Wildberries.
