Following a scandal involving illegal detentions and violence at the Odesa military recruitment office (TCC), Ukraine's Defense Ministry has ordered service inspections in all TCCs nationwide.

Deputy Defense Minister Mstyslav Banik convened an emergency meeting with the leadership of Ukraine’s Ground Forces on June 16. The move comes after incidents at the Odesa TCC involving alleged illegal detentions, violence, and sexual assault. The State Bureau of Investigation also uncovered a system of forced mobilization in a district TCC in the Odesa region.

Banik called for a fundamental reform of the TCC system, including a redistribution of tasks and the introduction of round-the-clock video surveillance at the offices. The functions of the recruitment offices should be distributed among other institutions without a closed cycle of registration and mobilization, Banik said on Facebook.
