As UNIAN reports, citing a report by the Washington Post (WP), Ukrainian and European defense representatives at a security forum in Kyiv emphasized the common threat posed by Russia. The Ukrainian leadership signaled its readiness to train European forces in drone warfare, electronic warfare, and decentralized combat operations.
According to UNIAN, the heads of European defense agencies at the forum expressed their solidarity with Ukraine. The war against Russia is now considered a common struggle. The Ukrainian side emphasized that its own forces had gained practical experience through repelling the Russian invasion, which is of immediate benefit to European defense.
The Washington Post quotes Ukrainian officials as saying that Ukraine has not only held its ground but is now able to teach Europe how to fight. Specifically, this involves tactics proven in the war against Russia, such as the use of inexpensive drones for reconnaissance and attack, as well as the coordination of small, mobile units.
The forum is set against the backdrop of ongoing military support for Ukraine by European states. At the same time, concerns are growing in Europe about a possible expansion of the conflict. The Ukrainian government is pushing to deepen cooperation beyond mere weapons deliveries and to establish joint training programs.
UNIAN further reports that European representatives emphasized the need to strengthen their own defense industries and increase military interoperability with Ukraine. Some forum participants noted that Ukrainian experience in repelling hypersonic missiles and cruise missiles is groundbreaking for European air defense.
The Washington Post points out in its report that Ukraine, despite its own personnel and material losses, is ready to provide training capacities for European soldiers. This is also a signal to NATO that Ukraine wants to be not just a recipient of aid but an active security partner.
The security forum in Kyiv took place against the backdrop of recent Russian offensives in eastern and southern Ukraine. The Ukrainian leadership sees European support as a decisive factor for the continuation of the war. At the same time, European politicians urge that Ukraine must be integrated into the European security architecture in the long term.
According to UNIAN, the forum concluded with a joint declaration to intensify defense cooperation between Ukraine and Europe. Concrete training programs are to be developed in the coming months.
