US intelligence agencies have determined in a recent assessment that Iran has restored access to 30 out of 33 missile sites along the strategic Strait of Hormuz. These findings contradict public statements made by US Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth, who claimed that Iran’s military had been severely weakened by the US-Israeli campaign earlier this year.

An anonymous informant familiar with the classified assessments told the New York Times that Iran retains about 70 percent of its mobile missile launchers and a similar proportion of its pre-war missile stockpile. This information raises questions about the availability of US missile stockpiles, which are strained by military operations in the region.

The intelligence reports indicate that approximately 90 percent of Iran’s underground missile depots and launch facilities are now considered “partially or fully operational.” These findings starkly contrast with Trump’s public statements, in which he told News on March 9 that Iran’s missiles had been “reduced to a minimum” and that the country had “nothing left militarily.”

The situation in the region remains tense, as the Strait of Hormuz is a vital waterway through which about one-fifth of the world’s daily oil supply is transported. The restoration of Iran’s military capabilities could further escalate geopolitical tensions.
