On Saturday morning, a tragic plane crash occurred in Limburgerhof, resulting in the deaths of two men. The small aircraft, a North American Aviation T-28 Trojan propeller plane, had taken off from Aachen. According to Axel Fischer, the deputy fire and disaster protection inspector of the district, the plane apparently exploded in mid-air.

The police confirmed that there were no indications of injured residents from debris. A 66-year-old woman sustained minor injuries while fleeing from falling debris and fell. Fortunately, due to the rain, only a few people were on the streets or in their gardens at the time of the accident.

The aircraft crashed on the outskirts of Limburgerhof near Max-Planck-Straße and reportedly grazed a house. The exact circumstances of the crash and the flight path are currently under investigation by the authorities. Emergency services are on-site, and the area has been cordoned off extensively.

A helicopter was deployed to take aerial photographs of the crash site. A support center has been established for residents at the Albert-Schweitzer-Haus located at Mühlweg 52. It is still unclear whether the nearby glider airfield Ludwigshafen-Dannstadt is connected to the crash.
