According to Bavarian Broadcasting (BR), the federal cabinet has approved a reform draft that aims to make obtaining a driving license in Germany more digital and easier. Transport Minister Volker Wissing promises that the changes will lead to lower costs for learner drivers without compromising safety standards.

The reform aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and digitize administrative processes. For instance, applications and exam documents are to be submitted online in the future, saving time and money. Wissing emphasized that driving schools and testing centers would benefit from digitization and could pass on the savings to customers.

The exact timeline for implementing the reform has not yet been set. The draft must now pass the Bundesrat before it can take effect. The federal government hopes the modernization will provide noticeable relief for driving license applicants and strengthen road safety through more efficient testing procedures.
