The amendment, which Federal Building Minister Verena Hubertz (SPD) had presented, is intended to accelerate housing construction in Germany. The cabinet approved the draft on Wednesday in Berlin. The new rules aim to shorten planning and approval procedures and thus create more living space.
Hubertz emphasized the urgency: Given the tense situation on the housing market, construction projects must be able to be realized more quickly. The draft law provides for, among other things, simplifications in the designation of building land and simplified procedures for densification. The amendment now goes to the Bundestag, where further details will be discussed.
