US Donald Trump has specified the conditions for extending the fragile ceasefire in the Persian Gulf by 60 days. According to the Kyiv Post, Trump is reviewing the final clauses in the White House Situation Room before signing the agreement.

The proposed memorandum of understanding requires Iran to permanently commit to not developing nuclear weapons. Additionally, Tehran must clear all maritime mine networks within 30 days and allow unrestricted ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz without tolls.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important waterways for oil transport. A multilateral framework for extending the ceasefire has been largely negotiated, Trump said. The final decision on the agreement will come after his review in the White House Situation Room.
