Brenner motorway in Tyrol has reopened to traffic after a temporary closure. As reported by Tagesschau, thousands of people had protested on the important Alpine route against noise, exhaust fumes, and miles-long truck queues.
Despite the full closure, the feared traffic chaos did not materialize. Police reported a calm traffic situation after the motorway was reopened in the afternoon. The demonstrators demanded, among other things, stricter limits for heavy goods traffic and more noise protection for residents along the Brenner route.
