In an interview with the podcast “Pod Force One,” US Donald Trump endorsed a joint ticket of Vice President JD Vance and Marco Rubio for the 2028 presidential election. “I would think that JD and Marco as a team would be very hard to beat,” Trump told journalist Miranda Devine in the episode released Wednesday. Both politicians are considered potential contenders for the Republican nomination in 2028.

Trump added: “It’s interesting, the human equation. I see them together, they get along great.” The president is thus fueling speculation about his succession once again, although both Vance and Rubio have so far downplayed their ambitions for 2028. Rubio recently caused a stir with an appearance at the White House lectern, which was praised by both Republicans and some Democrats.

In the interview, Trump also confirmed an Axios report that he had shouted at and insulted Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu. The background was Israeli threats to resume airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. The ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon had jeopardized talks to end Trump’s war against Iran.
