The new smoking ban in Baden-Württemberg applies to bus stops and other public places. However, the exact rules are causing uncertainty, as it is not clearly defined whether merely walking past with a lit cigarette counts as a violation.
Tübingen’s mayor Boris Palmer criticized the regulation. “Again, complete uncertainty about what actually applies,” Palmer said. He complained that bureaucracy is being unnecessarily expanded and that the regulation is not comprehensible for citizens.
