A powerful earthquake struck the southern Philippine coast on Saturday. According to Spiegel, numerous buildings collapsed in the city of General Santos City. Authorities issued a tsunami warning for several countries in the region.
The quake occurred off the coast of Mindanao island. No official information was immediately available on possible casualties or the exact magnitude of the quake. The tsunami warning applies to the Philippines themselves as well as parts of Indonesia and Japan.
