The Heartbeatz Festival in Munich is facing ongoing turmoil: originally scheduled for this weekend, the open-air event has now been postponed to September 5. Organizers cite ‘infrastructural challenges’ on their website. Tickets already purchased remain valid, and further information is expected shortly.

The festival had previously encountered strong opposition. It was initially planned for the site of a former gravel pit in Waldperlach, sparking protests from residents, local politicians, and environmental groups. In response, organizers moved the event a few weeks ago to ‘Lucky Star,’ an interim-use site on the former Knorr-Bremse grounds north of the Olympic Village. As part of the relocation, the festival duration was already cut from three to two days.

The responsible district administration office (KVR) stated that at no point had a permit been granted for the festival—neither for the original nor the new location. However, coordination on event safety was nearly complete, according to a spokesperson. The permit was ultimately not issued due to the postponement.
