The show at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation spans nearly 3,000 square meters and is divided into four thematic zones: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. The exhibits come from museums in Rome and Florence and have been reconstructed based on the surviving Vinci Codices.
Exhibition director Narima Mukhambetalina told Euronews that Leonardo wrote more than 20,000 manuscript pages, of which about 7,000 survive. These have allowed experts to recreate mechanical devices according to his drawings.
Highlights include an early flying machine considered a precursor to the helicopter, as well as a parachute design. Also on display is an armored vehicle in the shape of a turtle – an example of Leonardo’s military designs.
