The album ‘Happy Birthday’ is released on June 12 via Sportfreunde Stiller Records and is available on vinyl (30 euros), CD (18 euros), cassette (15 euros), as well as streaming or download. The band from Munich – Peter Brugger (53), Florian ‘Flo’ Weber (52), and Rüdiger ‘Rüde’ Linhof (53) – thus celebrates its 30th band anniversary.
The opener ‘Immer noch hier’ sets a programmatic tone: ‘If someone asks, when was our best time, we say: between birth and death.’ On the album, the band processes the difficult years and the temporary breakup in 2017. The documentary ‘Sportfreunde Stiller – Mit dem Herz in der Hand’ in the Mediathek shows the trio’s crisis.
Among the strongest tracks is the second single ‘Keine Blumen ohne Regen’, which credibly conveys optimism. The official album premiere took place on June 9 at the Munich Volkstheater, with around 600 fans celebrating the new songs. The band is on tour with concerts and festival appearances from May to October.
