Farzane Vaziritabar, born in 1987, has won the highly endowed art prize ‘Hannes Malte Mahler – it is art’. With prize money of 15,000 euros and a project budget of up to 105,000 euros, this prize is one of the most significant in Germany. The award ceremony and the opening of her exhibition take place on Saturday evening at the Sprengel Museum in Hanover.
Vaziritabar’s project is titled ‘Colorful Threads’ and is based on Hanover’s tourist ‘Red Thread’. Over a period of five months, the artist plans a total of four exhibitions as well as 36 art actions, performances, and interventions in public spaces. The goal is to change the perception of the city and raise questions about the visibility of places and voices in public space.
The exhibition ‘Colorful Threads. From Line to Action’ can be seen from June 14 to September 27 at the Sprengel Museum. Planned actions include a Frisbee intervention in front of the New Town Hall, where passersby are invited to play with Frisbees bearing articles from the German Basic Law.
