The Wittenberge station in Brandenburg has been fully renovated after three years of construction. According to Tagesspiegel, train services on the Berlin–Hamburg line will resume from Sunday. The route had been closed since August 2025.
As part of the major overhaul, Deutsche Bahn modernized the station building and expanded the transport hub. According to the city administration, it is the largest and most extensive project in Wittenberge’s urban development to date. Around 3,700 passengers use the station daily.
Mayor Oliver Hermann (independent) said the renovation strengthens the region. Transport Minister Robert Crumbach (SPD) emphasized its importance as a hub for commuters. Alexander Kaczmarek, Deutsche Bahn’s regional representative, pointed to the station’s convenient location between Hamburg and Berlin. The construction of a new platform 6 is expected to improve connections and shorten travel times in the future.
