A Trump-controlled board had decided to rename the historic cultural venue “Trump Kennedy Center.” A federal court ruled in late May that such a decision is reserved for Congress and declared it unlawful. An appeals court did not halt the removal of the name, so the order stands.

A representative of the Kennedy Center stated in a court document that designations such as “Trump Kennedy Center” or “Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts” have been removed from the official website. The president’s name is also no longer visible on the facade of the building on the Potomac River.

The renaming in December sparked widespread protests; several artists canceled their performances. Trump had brought the Kennedy Center under his control shortly after taking office in January 2025 and announced a fight against “anti-American propaganda” in the cultural world. He dismissed several board members, took over the chairmanship, and tasked his confidant Richard Grenell with reorienting the institution.

EuroPulse reported on June 13, 2026, about Trump’s accusations against Tehran in connection with the emerging agreement between the US and Iran: Agreement between US and Iran moves closer: Trump accuses Tehran of lying.
