Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) published the final results of the parliamentary election on June 7. According to the data, Pashinyan’s Civil Contract received 726,819 votes (49.74 percent). The Armenia Alliance, which media reports say receives support from Moscow, came in second with 23.27 percent. The bloc Armenia of former President Robert Kocharyan achieved 9.92 percent.
The pro-Russian Prosperous Armenia party of businessman Gagik Tsarukyan failed to clear the four-percent threshold with 3.98 percent and will not enter parliament. In total, Pashinyan’s party will hold 61 of the 101 seats in the National Assembly – enough to form a government alone. Around 1.48 million voters took part in the election.
The vote was the first nationwide election since the 2023 war with Azerbaijan, when Baku regained control over Nagorno-Karabakh. In the run-up, media reported on Russian attempts to influence the vote, including the involvement of dual citizens living in Russia. Moscow had also recalled its ambassador from Yerevan and imposed import restrictions on Armenian goods – in response to Yerevan’s pro-European course.
