The Tunisian football federation parted ways with head coach Sabri Lamouchi after a 5-1 defeat to Sweden in the World Cup opener. State television quoted Moez Nasri as saying that Frenchman Hervé Renard would take over the team for the rest of the tournament. Lamouchi had already left the team base in Mexico after agreeing to terminate his contract.

Renard, 57, most recently coached Saudi Arabia and led Zambia and Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations titles. He is expected to arrive at the team camp before the second group match against Japan on Sunday. Lamouchi, who took over in January, had only one win (1-0 against Haiti) and lost the World Cup warm-up 5-0 to Belgium.
