Pat Metheny, one of the most influential guitarists in modern jazz, gave a concert at Munich’s Isarphilharmonie in June 2026. The multi-award-winning musician presented his new album “Side-Eye III+” there – his first studio album in six years.

For the show, Metheny expanded his core lineup with bassist Jermaine Paul and percussionist and singer Leonard Patton. The quintet represented a look into the future of his Side-Eye project for the guitarist.

Since the studio recording in trio format was not satisfactorily reproducible, Metheny sought new approaches to the material. The concert showed him at the peak of his art – technically masterful, curious, and expressive.

The Munich stop was part of a German tour that took Metheny to Flensburg, Lübeck, Hamburg, Berlin, Dortmund, Freiburg, Nuremberg, and Frankfurt, among others. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the guitarist surrounded himself with outstanding young talents.
