A poll released Sunday by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Agam research institute found that 92 percent of respondents see Iran as the biggest beneficiary of the framework agreement negotiated with the United States. Of the 3,644 participants aged 17 and older, 86 percent rated the war’s outcome as negative overall.
About 83 percent of Israelis believe the campaign has weakened the country’s long-term security. Some 73 percent do not believe Benjamin Netanyahu, who claimed that Israel had achieved significant successes and eliminated an existential threat. 88 percent think Israel has not or only partially achieved its goals, and 56 percent rate Netanyahu’s conduct of the war as poor or failed.
The framework agreement between the US and Iran, signed on Wednesday and providing for a region-wide ceasefire, is rejected by 63 percent of Israelis, with only 12 percent in favor. 48 percent support continuing Israeli strikes in Lebanon even if it leads to a rift with Washington. Tehran assures in the agreement that it will not seek nuclear weapons; the exact terms regarding the nuclear program have yet to be negotiated.
