The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has arrested two suspected supporters of the right-wing extremist terrorist group ‘Last Defense Wave’ in Thuringia. The two German nationals allegedly attempted to set fire to an asylum seeker accommodation in the Altenburger Land district, the authority announced.

The suspects smashed a window and tried to shoot pyrotechnics ignited with a firework battery into the building. However, no fire broke out. They are accused of, among other things, supporting a domestic terrorist organization as juveniles with criminal responsibility, as well as attempted murder.

The arrests took place on Wednesday in the districts of Altenburger Land and Gera. The arrest warrants were opened on Thursday. ‘Last Defense Wave’ is a group of young neo-Nazis active in several federal states, recruiting followers via social media since 2024.
