A US official said both sides have agreed to stop attacks, allowing ships to again pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Technical talks are set to resume on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, according to the US news site Axios.
The agreement follows a weekend of retaliatory strikes that threatened a ceasefire deal reached in April. The US Central Command said it struck ten Iranian military targets after Iran continued to attack commercial vessels. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghtschi stressed the importance of control over the Strait of Hormuz, state media reported.
