The White House said Donald Trump has “proudly made the United States the crypto capital of the world” after earning around $1.2 billion in income from his family’s cryptocurrency businesses.

The US Supreme Court upheld the constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship, meaning nearly all people born on US soil are automatically American citizens. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the majority that the challenged order violated the 14th Amendment. The ruling strikes down a central pillar of Trump’s anti-immigration policy.

In another ruling, the Supreme Court upheld laws in two conservative states that ban transgender women and girls from participating in female sports. The far-reaching decision paves the way for similar bans across the US and hands Trump a major “culture war” victory.

The Supreme Court also announced it will hear arguments next term on the constitutionality of bans on AR-15 rifles and similar semiautomatic firearms. The justices accepted appeals against bans in Connecticut and Chicago. The announcement follows two recent successes for Second Amendment advocates.

Trump announced that Republicans will hold a national convention before the midterm elections for the first time. The two-day meeting is scheduled for September 9 and 10 in Dallas and aims to mobilize voters as the party fights to keep its narrow majorities in Congress. The move breaks with the tradition of holding national conventions only in presidential election years.
