Manufacturer km5 is launching the Hp1 Bluetooth headphones, which visually recall models from past decades. The unpadded headband contributes to a low weight of 103 grams, making padding unnecessary. The soft fabric ear cushions are magnetically attached and easy to replace.

Technically, the Hp1 are up to date: they support Bluetooth 5.4 including Bluetooth LE Audio. Battery life is rated at 24 hours by km5, with a full charge via USB-C taking three hours. Connected via USB-C to a smartphone or computer, the headphones can decode music at up to 24 bits and 96 kilohertz, extending the frequency range to 20 hertz to 25 kilohertz.

The dynamic drivers have a diameter of 40 millimeters, a sensitivity of 122 decibels per milliwatt, and a total harmonic distortion of 0.2 percent. Buttons on both earcups control playback and volume. Unusual for Bluetooth headphones: the left and right sides must be switched on and off separately, as no cable runs between them. Each side has its own 120 milliampere-hour battery that must be charged independently.

The km5 Hp1 are available now on the manufacturer’s website. The price is 190 euros including VAT plus shipping, with the manufacturer noting possible customs fees.
